All right, in honor of Chip Kidd’s visit to SUNY Oz, we didn’t have to go to Web.
No wait, it was more than getting out of class. Trust me!
For those of us that saw Kidd’s morning (and afternoon and evening) talk, we saw the complete range of his “talking in front of people” style. So for those of you who only attended the 7pm talk in Waterman, you might have been just utterly depressed by it. I was, but in a good way. Having been in serious, Milgram study, the horrors of humanity mode, it made the hilarity of the the earlier talks even more…hilarious-er. But it also gave me have a greater appreciation of the ending of The Learners. Now instead of wanting more, I just feel happy for Happy. His plan did waythehellnot go according to plan, but he gained salvation nonetheless. And where there was a sadness, there is now a pleasant, warm and fuzzy feeling. I want to be Happy. Only still me. Alive. Doing right by others. And, of course, I want a design job and a friend like Tip. “Crispy!”
Also, Kidd has a comic in the works—it’s written, he’s just waiting for the art to be done. So hurry the hell up, you Brit artist. You know how impatient we across the pond are!
